Mad World Returns Ahead of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Launch

It wouldn't be a Gears launch without it.

Gears of War

The launch of the original Gears of War on the Xbox 360 was lightning in a bottle, the perfect combination of a great game, some genre changing mechanics, a thirst for next generation graphics and gameplay that the game was ready to supply, and some great marketing. Speaking exclusively of that last point, the most iconic Gears of War advertisement was one that used the song ‘Mad World’ to great effect in the background, against a montage of footage from the game.

It wouldn’t be a launch of Gears of War without Mad World making a return, and so, ahead of the launch of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, which serves as a remake of the original game, Microsoft released the launch trailer, which… features the song Mad World.

“In celebration of the new Ultimate Edition, Mad World has been reimagined with all new footage showcasing how the original is back and better than ever,” said Microsoft in a statement.

Gears pf War: Ultimate Edition launches later this month on Xbox One, with a PC release for Windows 10 computers planned for later this year as well.
