Top tier loot is the name of the game in Marathon, but aside from random looting and scavenging there are some avenues for guaranteed good pickings. The Lockdown event on Dire Marsh is one such opportunity, and has some peculiarities that you need to be aware of first.
This Marathon guide is specifically for the Lockdown world event that occurs in Dire Marsh.
Lockdown Event
This Dire Marsh-exclusive event only triggers about fifteen minutes into a run. The event itself revolves around fighting the UESC AI in the form of a multi-wave defensive mission at three consecutive locations.
Loadout preparation: Antivirus Pack in order to enter the red event zone. Also bring a lot of ammo, not just to contend with the AI, but also the other Runner teams that might be contesting the same shared event. Cardio Kicks will help with traversing between locations quickly, as time is of the essence.
The event begins when the first massive ship appears in the sky. Head towards it as quickly as possible, since you are also racing against the extraction clock of the round itself.
Locate the first UESC Security Cache by looking for the blue vertical laser beam in the zone, and search the ground around it for a ‘Lockdown Drive’. Insert it into the UESC Security Cache itself in order to activate it, and initiate the first of three enemy waves. Killing the last enemy in the last wave unlocks the UESC Security Cache, and the loot within.
Be sure to collect the Lockdown Drive from this UESC Security Cache, as you will need it to initialize the waves at the next location.
The next ship will eventually appear, so chase after it in order to repeat the same process once more.
Once again, collect the ‘Prime Lockdown Drive’ for insertion into the UESC Security Cache at the third and final location.
After defeating the final UESC enemy here, you will have successfully completed the event.
This last UESC Security Cache holds the best selection of loot to be gained from this event. If you run out of time before you reach this third stage, there’s always another opportunity on your next run.
That is everything there is to know about successfully completing all three parts of the Lockdown public event in Marathon.
