With Mario vs. Donkey Kong out next month, Nintendo has released a new trailer showcasing the opening. It’s a gorgeous cutscene that’s fully animated and sets up the premise for the story. Donkey Kong wants Mini-Marios, which are unavailable in stores. He then raids Mario’s toy factory and steals them, leading to Mario chasing him.

The opening is impressive when comparing it to the 2004 original on Game Boy Advance. For instance, instead of Donkey Kong simply having hearts in his eyes on seeing the Mini-Marios, he gets a telltale glow and slowly goes into a frenzy. The little details work well on top of the incredible visuals.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong launches on February 16th for Nintendo Switch. On top of the original’s levels and challenges, it adds two new worlds, local co-op, a Casual Style for more forgiving gameplay, and much more. With over 130 levels, there’s a lot on offer for new players.
