Mass Effect 4- Prequel or Sequel? BioWare wants your help

Decisions, decisions...

BioWare has been talking about Mass Effect 4- or whatever the next installment in the Mass Effect series will be called- for some time now. After asking players what they want to see in the next game, then hinting at the possibility of having multiple playable races and then even announcing that ME4 will be running on the Frostbite Engine, we know that BioWare is working on a new Mass Effect game.

But the question that we have all been asking is- just what story will the next Mass Effect game tell? The Mass Effect universe is rich and diverse, so there’s plenty of stories for BioWare to tell. But does the series go forward, taking place after Shepard’s battle against the Reapers, or before the events of the trilogy?

BioWare wants to know what you want to see. “Parsing through your thoughts on the next #ME game. Would you be more interested in a game that takes place before the trilogy, or after?” Mass Effect big boss Casey Hudson wrote on his Twitter page.

Having a prequel game would be a little redundant- we all know what happened before Shepard’s trilogy is most of the stories BioWare could explore, and even though we don’t know the nitty gritties, we do know the main details, which means decision making will not be a focus since everything is pre-determined. And that just isn’t Mass Effect. However, seeing a story on the Protheans or maybe the First Contact War would be really fascinating.

We do know that the next Mass Effect game will not have Shepard- Shepard’s story is done and dusted.

What do you want to see in Mass Effect 4? Tell us in your comments below.
