Mass Effect Andromeda – Player Character Not Featured In Announcement Video

We know it won't be someone from the original trilogy, beyond that it's anyone's guess.

Mass Effect Andromeda

Many people were absolutely blown away by the announcement trailer for the upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda game. The video that revealed the new game at this year’s E3 was positively gorgeous, and even though it didn’t show a lot of the game it was pretty enough to get fans of the long running series, as well as gamers in general quite excited for the future of the franchise.

Of course, since there wasn’t a ton revealed about the game in that trailer, we’re having to piece information together from various places and various times. In particular, just who we are going to be playing as is still up in the air, on purpose apparently. A recent posting on the official Bioware blog lets us know that the character we saw in the trailer is not “exactly” the person we’ll be playing with.

The company says that the playable character will be either a male or female human but they haven’t given much information beyond that. We also know that there are going to be a bunch of new characters to interact with, since this is basically a kind of reboot of the story, none of the original characters will be involved. Mass Effect: Andromeda is taking place far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy, so you certainly shouldn’t expect to even see any cameos.

We’re still a ways off from this game getting a release, so more information is likely going to trickle out over the next year and a half. Mass Effect: Andromeda is slated for release on the PS4, Xbox One and PC during the Holiday season of 2016.
