The latest Media Create hardware charts are now available, charting the success of consoles in Japan. Surprising no on, the Nintendo 3DS XL was the top-selling platform with 20,304 units sold. The PlayStation Vita came in second place and managed to sell 13,334 units.
What’s interesting are the sales of the Nintendo Wii U, which managed to sell 8,858 units this week. This managed to beat out the PlayStation 4 which sold 7,387 units. This wouldn’t be a very big feat but the Wii U had no major releases in the past week (Mario Kart 8 will be out tomorrow in Japan) while the PS4 had inFamous: Second Son release in Japan.
Meanwhile, the regular 3DS managed to sell 4,711 units while the PSP averaged 1,201 units. The Xbox 360 managed to set a new record of sorts with 104 units sold this week. So that’s something for Microsoft to look forward to when the Xbox One releases in Japan in September. Stay tuned for software sales in Japan.
