Nintendo’s New 3DS XL has been available in Japan for some time and while it may only include incremental changes to the overall experience, it’s currently experiencing strong sales. The week prior saw 50,619 units sold while the New 3DS sold 15,020 units and this week, the New 3DS XL managed to notch up a strong 38,457 units sold.
The PlayStation Vita managed to regain some lost ground this week with 19,301 units. The PS4 managed to sell 15,537 in part due to the releases of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 (which still sold better on the PS3). Whether Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was financially successful or not, Wii U sales continue to be strong in Japan with 14,002 units sold this week. Finally, the New 3DS stands at 13,373 units sold this week.
For those curious, the Xbox One is performing rather poorly with 2,245 units sold in the past week. Though Microsoft easily has the Holiday season on lockdown for North America and Europe, will it be able to succeed in Japan? Stay tuned for more information on the same.
