Studio director at Media Molecule Siobhan Reddy was surprised when she had been awarded “Australian Woman of the Year” in the UK recently. Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, she said, “I feel it’s given me probably a bit of a rocket up the bum in some way.

“I’ve had my head down for so long just making things, that I’ve been bad in realizing how low the numbers of women are within games. In the last months I’ve started to think more about how I can encourage young women to get into games.”

This isn’t the first bit of recognition she’s received for her efforts either. She was also named number as one of the United Kingdom’s Most Powerful Women alongside known heavyweights like the Queen, J.K. Rowling and Victoria Beckham in BBC Radio 4’s list.

The year should continue to be interesting for Media Molecule as well, as we received a glimpse of what they have planned for the PlayStation 4 already.
