Sony confirmed with a short teaser trailer at their PSX event yesterday that MediEvil, the classic title for the original PlayStation, will be coming to the PS4 as a fully remastered game. It was also confirmed that the remaster will have full 4K support. No other details were revealed, such as an exact release date, but the end of the teaser trailer did promise that more details would be released “soon”. You can watch the teaser below.
Not a lot has been heard from the MediEvil franchise in the last decade or so. 2005 was the last time we saw a new release in the series, with PSP’s MediEvil: Resurruction, which wasn’t very well received. After that, MediEvil was re-released on the PSN Store for the PS3 in 2009, but that was mostly it. So it’s really good to see that Sony hasn’t completely forgotten about the franchise.
The remaster is being described by Sony as a “a proper, PS4-grade resurrection”, so there may be more upgrades to the game than a typical remaster would usually have. That’s conjecture on our part, of course, but we’re hoping more will be revealed on the release sooner rather than later. So stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates.
