Slowly but surely, the virtual reality market has been growing these last few years, and of all the competitors in the space, the one that has perhaps contributed the most to that growth has been Meta, formerly known as Oculus. Its current flagship headset, the Meta Quest 2, has very much kept up that trend.
Announced recently by Facebook (via IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo on Twitter), the Meta Quest 2 has sold 14.8 million units worldwide since its launch in October 2020. Given the headset’s solid library of games and its ease of use and access, its success doesn’t come as a surprise.
Speaking of which, these updated sales figures mean that the Meta Quest 2 is now the most successful VR headset to date. It has, in fact, contributed to a growth in VR sales at large, which grew 97% in 2021 and a whopping 242% in the first quarter of 2022.
Meta Quest 2 has several major games coming in the near future, including the likes of GTA: San Andreas VR, Ghostbusters VR, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution, and more.
