We’ve known that the split between Konami and Hideo Kojima was not exactly a friendly one. It seems, considering what we saw at Thursday’s Video Games Awards that the pair are not even close to being friendly. There were more than a few people who took issue with the fact that Konami would not actually let Kojima appear at the awards in order to take his much deserved accolades.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Konami apparently made it clear Kojima wasn’t welcome when it came to Metal Gear Solid winning multiple awards at a recent Japan awards show. Fans were obviously a bit upset at the decision by Konami and the fans weren’t the only ones who had a problem. During the awards show and after, there were plenty of industry people who voiced their displeasure on Twitter. Other devs were especially angry about Konami barring Kojima from the awards.

The reactions ranged from the short and to the point like Vince Zampella who tweeted out, “Messed up that @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN couldn’t be here, shame on Konami” to those who were clearly hoping to see a bit of fireworks in other reactions. Andrea Pessino, the Ready at Dawn founder was one of those as he sent out a number of tweets. The most biting of those was when Pessino said “Konami has denied they were going to stop making AAA games, my guess is that after this they could not continue if they wanted to.” We have grabbed a number of other tweets that were sent out and none of them are flattering when it comes to Konami and its decision regarding barring Hideo Kojima from getting accolades for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
