When Hideo Kojima left Konami under acrimonious circumstances, it changed the face of the publisher irrevocably. It also changed everything anyone had in mind about the Metal Gear franchise and what its future might entail, which is only evidenced by Metal Gear Survive and how unlike Metal Gear it looks and feels. However, even in spite of all that, it seems the people working on Metal Gear haven’t forgotten the franchise’s roots, and Kojima Productions’ legacy.
One fan took two Twitter to post that image from Metal Gear Survive that shows a list of the mother base staff that shows up in the game’s opening cutscene, and it seems there’s a secret in there that pays homage to Kojima Productions. The first letters of these soldiers seem to spell out “KJP FOREVER”, KJP of course being Kojima Productions.
Are we reading a bit too much into this here? Well, possibly, but then again, maybe not. Seems like too much of a coincidence, and in spite of Konami’s poor current relations with Kojima, it doesn’t seem like such a stretch that the man’s former coworkers would want to pay homage to the work he and they did together on the series in the past.
Our review of Metal Gear Survive will be going up shortly, so stay tuned for our impressions on the game.
Am I the only one who saw “KoJima Productions FOREVER?” using the first letter of the highlighted code names? @HEITAIs #MetalGearSurvive #MGSurvive pic.twitter.com/NrYGVmwm8J
