A weapon to surpass Metal Gear?!?

Metal Gear Survive Beta Gameplay

A brand new update is available for Konami’s Metal Gear Survive, the controversial survival spin off game for the beloved Metal Gear franchise that they launched last month. The new update actually adds a bunch of new feature and functionality, as well as a fair amount of new content.

New content includes new co-op rescue missions, as well as a new co-op rescue event (the latter will presumably be time limited, while the former can be accessed by players whenever they want). As for new features, these include remappable controls, enhancement items for Legendary weapons and gear, and bug fixes. You can check out the full patch note for yourself below.

Metal Gear Survive launched last month for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. While it is conceptually sound in terms of mechanics, its Metal Gear trappings end up hurting it more than helping it, and its survival mechanics are too unforgiving for the gameplay to be enjoyable for many. If you are enjoying the game, however, you can download this new update now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

NEW CO-OP Rescue Missions.

The objective of Rescue Missions is to evacuate Charon Corps survivors who have gone missing after failing a Salvage Mission. Make use of the terrain as well as your Interceptor and Defense units to secure a safe escape route, while thwarting hoards of enemies.

Rescue Mission Event:

“The Captive Ferrymen.” Play the event to earn standard CO-OP rewards (e.g., Kuban energy, resources, recipes), as well as Battle Points (BP) which will unlock other rewards as you accumulate more BP.

Other content updates:

  • Added controller customization features

  • Speeding up the digging of the Wormhole Digger will be reflected on personal score

  • Added new plan to Base Camp Dig

  • Added enhancement items for weapons and gears (Legendary)

  • Bug fixes and game balance changes
