Metro 2033 Is Free on Steam for the Next 24 Hours

And once you add it to your account, you own it forever.

Metro Exodus is due to come out next year, but if you want to play the first game in the series ahead of its launch, there’s some good news: now you can. And it won’t cost you a single penny to do so, at least if you are playing it on Steam. Metro 2033 is now available to download on Steam for absolutely free for everyone for the next 24 hours

This isn’t like a free weekend or anything either—if you add the game to your account in this period, you will own it forever. Essentially, the game is available for a 100% off sale right now for all purposes. It’s the best excuse for you to jump into the original title, which still holds up in a lot of ways, ahead of Exodus. The game may be a bit aged and janky in a lot of ways, but the atmosphere and strong storytelling certainly hold up even now.

To be clear, this is not the remaster of the game, but the original—but I do think it is still worth it. Metro 2033 launched on Xbox 360 and PC, with a remaster that was made available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Exodus, meanwhile, comes out next year. If you want to see more of that, make sure to check out this beautifully terrifying trailer for it.
