Metroid Prime 4 Beyond

With about a month to go before launch, Metroid fans are rabid for new information on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Eight years in development (including a reboot) and still no dedicated Direct while Kirby Air Riders gets two (which were admittedly great but still)? Fortunately, it seems Nintendo is cranking the hype machine with a new trailer showcasing the dangers of Viewros – all while simply demanding you “Survive.”

It’s easier said than done, honestly. Dense forests and illuminated caves make for some nice tourist spots. The ominous spire, surrounded by lava? Not as much. One sequence sees Samus Aran crossing a massive chain in the middle of a blizzard. Then there are the beasts. Wolf-like creatures, tree-crawlers and multi-armed horrors await alongside mysterious Psy-Bots, less than pleased with your intrusion.

Thankfully, her new Psychic powers afford some interesting benefits, including revealing platforms to jump on. Then there’s Vi-0-La, the new motorcycle for crossing the planet’s vast deserts with some killer shock absorbers. Naturally, Nintendo can’t resist showcasing Samus sliding to a halt, adding to the pile of Akira homages.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches on December 4th for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Check out our feature for everything you should know before picking it up.
