It was announced today, somewhat casually, by way of the Xbox Wire that Microsoft are set to receive a prestigious award for their digital services. Being given an Emmy Award, a respected award that recognizes excellence in the television industry, for Television Enhancement Devices thanks to their Xbox One and its “industry-leading television-on-demand and media center capabilities.”

A extract from the statement posted to the Xbox Wire page by the staff reads “Microsoft is in good company with the likes of fellow award recipients Apple, Roku, Sony, and TiVo – and we’re proud to be awarded this honor by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.”

This is an entirely deserved award for Microsoft who have continuously made improvements to their service to both gamers and consumers of digital media. So congratulations Microsoft, you earned this one.
