Microsoft has confirmed that the Kinect will be the default device out of the box that will allow players to communicate to others due to the fact that the official Xbox One headset will not be included in the $499 package.

Here is the official confirmation statement that was told to Ars Technica:

“Xbox One does not include a pack-in headset accessory.” Each Xbox One includes the new Kinect sensor, with a highly sensitive multi-array [of] microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences.

For gamers who prefer a headset, we have a variety of offerings that you can find on the Xbox Wire,” they added.

It’s kind of a shame that the headset is not included in the already expensive price-tag of $499, majority of consumers will want to have a headset especially those who have children running around in the living. Again, Microsoft loses the advantage to Sony’s powerhouse PlayStation 4 with better hardware specs in terms of RAM memory and the fact that the $399 package also includes an official PlayStation 4 Headset/Earbud.
