Microsoft Introduces A Referral Program for Xbox One in Japan

Will this cause its sales to spike?

Xbox-One

That the Xbox One is not selling well in Japan is an open secret- but what might come more as a surprise to most people is that contrary to the popular belief, Microsoft does actually care about their system not selling well there. And they are trying to take measures to alleviate the situation.

Take this new program from them, for instance. If you own or buy an Xbox One, and convince a friend to do so too by November 25, you get 25,000 rewards points in the Xbox rewards program, as will your friend, which you can then go ahead and redeem for all sorts of stuff. In addition to this, as you refer more friends, you get more stuff, including VIP badges, mentions on the spotlight page, and even on the official Xbox One page and by the official Xbox Twitter account.

I mean, it’s not the best referral program in the world (a free game or three months of Live would have been far better), but I guess this is bound to do something?
