Microsoft Activision Blizzard

The saga of Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard has dragged on for nearly two years at this point, but after having cleared several major regulatory hurdles, it seems like the $69 billion deal is edging closer to being finalized.

Recently, it was reported that the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority had provisionally approved the deal. The regulatory body is set to announce its final decision next week, and though the exact date on which the process is brought to an end may change, according to a report published by The Verge citing sources familiar with the process, Microsoft is currently planning on officially announcing that it has completely the drawn-out acquisition on October 13.

Previously, the European Commission also approved the proposed acquisition, while the US’ FTC’s attempts to block the deal ended in failure (though the agency is still moving ahead with an in-house trial).

As previously confirmed, the deadline for Microsoft and Activision Blizzard’s acquisition agreement is October 18.
