Microsoft’s Custom Xbox Controllers Design Lab Will Be US Exclusive For Now

No plans for now.

Microsoft’s Xbox Design Lab is a pretty cool thing- basically it lets you order a custom Xbox One controller online, letting you pick a color, message, and name configuration to your liking for one out of up to 8 million possible permutations.

It’s a neat feature, but so far it has been restricted solely to the US. Last year, Microsoft did promise that it would eventually bring it to other countries some time in 2017- but as of right now, there appear to be no plans to bring it to the UK, at least. Responding to a fan on Twitter, Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg said that while the Xbox team has heard the feedback about bringing the feature to other markets, as of right now there are no plans to do so.

It’s a bit of a shame- because this is definitely a cool idea. That said, it is also probably a very niche business, and maybe the logistics of doing something like this simply don’t make sense for a smaller market where Microsoft would maybe sell a few hundred (if not even fewer) of these custom controllers every month. So I can’t say I blame them for this either.
