Microsoft’s @pcedf “Game Announcement” Tease Was Just ‘A Comedy Of Errors’

Facepalm moment.

So remember that great tease for a new video game announcement last week? Well, not so fast there. As it turns out, it appears that Major Nelson never actually meant to tease a new game- it was just an honest mistake on his part, mixed up with a fake leak made by a prankster.

Essentially, it all started because someone wanted to tweet Major Nelson, couldn’t because they didn’t remember their real name, was told by another kind person what Major Nelson’s real name is, and Major Nelson stepped in to reply to the second kind soul with a smiley… except he mistyped the second person’s Twitter handle, and directed the tweet at someone who did not exist.

Someone with way too much time on their hands decided to make the account that did not exist, and posted ‘Be Ready’ on it, using a Dark Souls fan picture. And thus the tease was born.

I mean… guys, what?
