Monolith Productions has a new trailer out for their upcoming third person action adventure title Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Another new aspect of the game is showcased with Weapons and Runes, with the latter revealed to add new stat buffs to protagonist Talion’s weapons. Check it out above.

Runes can be collected and even combined for new buffs. You’ll also be able to find epic runes or craft them and we can only assume they add a range of different buffs to your character. These runes also form the basis for some of the game’s pre-orders. There’s the Deadly Archer Rune which increases headshot damage from ranged weapons.

This is available to all those who pre-order the game – those who get it from Best Buy will also avail of the Flame Arnor Rune, that increases your combo multiplier, while GameStop pre-orders receive the Hidden Blade Rune for improved stealth kills. Then there’s the Orc Slayer Rune for increased special move damage.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor releases on October 7th for PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
