Minecraft to Receive Newer, Skinnier Player Models?

These new models boast 3 pixel wide arms and may be purely optional.

Minecraft

Mojang’s Minecraft has forever been defined by its blocky, stocky player models – regardless of which skin they donned – and it’s fit in with the overall tone of the game world. There could be a bit of a slimming down for characters in the near future, according to programmer and designer Jens Bergensten on Twitter.

Bergensten posted images on Twitter which showed side-by-side comparisons of the original model and the slimmer versions (whose arms are three pixels wide). Bergensten said that the models could be a “possible feature for the future” but it seems they will be optional rather than replacing the current scheme.

What are your thoughts on these new player models? Let us know in the comments. Minecraft has been a phenomenal success for both PC and consoles – with tens of millions of units sold – and is currently slated to release in Xbox One, PS Vita and PS4 this August.
