Mojang’s Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will have a player limit of eight players when it launches later this year, according to Microsoft Games Studios producer Roger Carpenter on Twitter.
However, it won’t be like this forever. “#minecraftxbox1 will be 8 player at release but we will continue working to allow more players in a future update!”
This is actually the same number of players for the current gen versions on the Xbox 360, so it’s rather disappointing. Then again, the worlds in Minecraft for Xbox One and PS4 will be 36 times larger than the current Xbox 360 and PS3 worlds. So suffice to say, there’s been a substantial amount of development on something (though they won’t be “infinite” as on the PC version”).
The PS4 and Xbox One editions of Minecraft are expected to release this August, with the PS Vita version also coming around the same time. What is at the end of the tunnel? We’ll find out in a month.
