Bellring Games looks like it’s enjoying the run-up to Mistfall Hunter’s release just as much as we are, with a new look at the Mercenary class in action joining that trailer from earlier.
In case you didn’t already know, each class in the PvEvP extraction Souls-like gets to alternate between two weapons. So the Mercenary swaps out a reliable sword and shield for a hammer with some serious hyper armor when the occasion demands it. With the former, he’s quite nimble, slashing with wide arcs and stabbing away at foes with animation windows that are quite quick. Take a look at the latter, though, and you quickly begin to realize that he could become a damage-dealing juggernaut with moves that shrug off light hits and a leaping slam that could be very useful at avoiding ground-based attacks.
Area-of-effect slams and shield-based parries make for a combat loop in which you’re going to want to keep switching things up to keep your enemies on the back foot, while looking for the best possible positioning to the tide of the fight.
Mistfall Hunter lands on July 30th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It will also be available on Game Pass at launch.
