Famitsu has released the latest weekly data for software and hardware sales in Japan, and the results are predictable. Monster Hunter Rise topped the charts in the week that it debuted, and then did so once again the week after that. Now, for the third week running, it claims the top spot, selling over 194,000 copies, for total retail sales in the region of nearly 1.8 million copies.
Meanwhile, with Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Ring Fit Adventure, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and more, the top 10 is dominated by Nintendo games, and by Switch titles in general- which happens to be the case most weeks.
On the hardware front, the Nintendo Switch reigns supreme again, selling over 96,000 units, which is down from the over 135,000 units it sold last week. The PS5 has also seen a drop in sales, and trails behind the Switch by a pretty healthy gap, having sold over 15,000 units last week.
