After spending a few months as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, Monster Hunter Rise has now launched for PC via Steam as well, and the action RPG has gotten off to a strong start. Right out the gate, the game has seen strong player numbers.
As per the Steam activity charts, on its launch day, Monster Hunter Rise hit a peak concurrent player count of over 90,000 players- 90,773, to be precise. That is, of course, still a ways off from the all-time peak of Monster Hunter World, which is currently sitting at over 334,000 players, so it should be interesting to see whether the new installment manages to hit those kinds of figures in its lifetime.
Of course, Monster Hunter Rise’s expansion, Sunbreak, is set to launch for both PC and Nintendo Switch this Summer, and one would assume that that will also bring a boost for the game’s player count and engagement.
In our review of Monster Hunter Rise’s PC port, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Monster Hunter Rise keeps the series going forward with a healthy balance of new and old.” You can also read our review of the Nintendo Switch version through here.
