Sony will be announcing a lot more things at E3 and other events. As for why they didn’t show the console at PS Meeting 2013, the first unveiling was to make it clear to everybody what the design pillars were for the system.

It wasn’t about selling the system as Jack Tretton revealed in another interview.

Michael Denny, VP of Sony world wide studios, told CVG that there more announcements planned in the future.

“Absolutely. This was the first announcement, it was an early announcement, and as I said this was really to set the agenda and to get it clear to everybody what those design pillars were for PlayStation 4, what the ethos is behind PS4, who it’s aimed at and getting the game development community on board,” he said.

“I think it was a great start to get everybody thinking in the same terms as we’re thinking, and of course now we’ve got the rest of the year to go out with further announcements.”
