Mortal Kombat 1 is Now Available Worldwide

NetherRealm's reboot of the classic fighting game franchise is playable now on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Following its early launch for Premium Edition owners, NetherRealm’s Mortal Kombat 1 is out now worldwide. It takes place after the events of Mortal Kombat 11 but offers a clean slate, with Fire God Liu Kang creating the New Era for fighters to live. You can see that process of creation in the newest trailer below.

Though peace is one component of the New Era, the tournament of Mortal Kombat is still very much a thing. You have characters like Raiden, Kung Lao, Johnny Cage and Kenshi participating on behalf of Earthrealm, competing against warriors like General Shao of Outworld. Behind the scenes, Shang Tsung awakens to his evil potential and plots deviously.

Outside the story, there’s Invasion, where players explore a board game-like map with RPG mechanics and battle opponents from alternate dimensions. Beware if you’re picking the game up on Switch, as only the intro for Invasion is available, with the rest coming in the next few weeks.
