Mortal Kombat 11 Joker

Mortal Kombat has, over its last few entries, come to be the home to several crossover characters. It kicked off something of a trend that other fighting games have borrowed from ever since. Mortal Kombat 11 has used half of its DLC roster to bring in guests from all parts of other entertainment mediums. The latest one to come out is the clown prince of crime from DC Comics, the Joker. He’s got his own set of moves as well as a look inspired by the Injustice and Arkham series. But that design was once different, as some new concept art shows.

In some art that is accessible in-game, you can see five different designs for the villain that were once considered. Four of them seem to be vague callbacks to various film adaptations of the beloved fiend: Joaquin Phoenix in Joker, Jack Nicholson in the 1989 Batman, Heath Ledger from The Dark Knight, and Jared Leto’s tattooed weirdo from Suicide Squad. The only one that doesn’t seem to fit a movie theme in some way is the last one. That appears to be more inspired by a comic story line where Joker cut off his own face and then sewed it back on. Check it out below.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now across all major platforms, and Joker is available to purchase separately or as part of the game’s Kombat Pack.
