Though reception for Mortal Kombat 11 has largely been positive – thanks to a strong core and strength in other areas like its story mode and competitive online – the game’s also received a fair amount of criticism for its overly grindy nature. That is something NetherRealm Studios seem to be committed to fixing. Not too long ago, they released a patch that addressed various problematic elements in the Towers of Time and the Krypt, while also giving out large amounts of free in-game currency to players.

Now, it seems a new server side hotfix for the game has addressed issues with requirements in the game’s character towers as well, which players are reporting (via Twisted Voxel) have been slashed significantly- as much as 80 per cent in some cases.

For instance, requirements for reaching level 2 have been brought down from hitting 50 Fatalities and Brutalities each, to now needing to hit only 10 apiece. Level 1 requirements stand at 25 Uppercuts and Throws each, Level 3 at 25 Krushing Blows and 10,000 Blood Spilled, level 4 at 25 Fatal Blows, 10 Flawless, 25 Wins, and 25 Krushing Blows, and level 5 at 75 Wins, 35 Fatal Blows, 25 Fatalities, and 25 Brutalities.

It’s a significant drop, and should definitely help with the game’s grindy nature even further. If nothing else, it is, at the very least, good to see the developers listening to feedback and attempting to actually fix it before too much time has passed.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
