While Mortal Kombat 11, the next entry in NetherRealms’ long running, gratuitously violent fighting game series, was announced back at The Game Awards last year, we haven’t actually seen much in the way of true gameplay yet. The reveal was purely in the form of a cinematic, and while it gave us a good idea of where the new game might be headed, now we know for sure.

Today, we got the gameplay reveal trailer for Mortal Kombat 11, and goodness, there is a lot to take in here. From just how beautiful the game looks (though that should come as no surprise to anyone, Mortal Kombat has always been a bit of a looker), to the over the top violence the series is known for coming back in full form, to even the characters we get to see, it’s all fantastic (though I will say, the animations, long a sticking point with NetherRealms’ games, still don’t look up to par to me).

You can check out the official trailer for yourself below. Mortal Kombat 11 is due out on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 23. There were recent indications that the Switch version may be delayed by a couple of weeks in Europe, but if that is so, it has not yet been officially confirmed.
