Design-wise, Hotaru looks pretty cool, fulfilling that firefly aesthetic without being too obvious. Combined with his status as a lawful General from the Realm of Order, he should be pretty bad-ass, if not memorable. However, throughout Mortal Kombat Deception, he’s mostly just there, serving the big bad Onaga rather than having his own character established. His subsequent death in multiple endings and Armageddon also ensured he would remain mostly forgotten.
