Developer Cold Symmetry took to Summer Games Fest 2025 to unveil a sequel to its game Mortal Shell. Appropriately dubbed Mortal Shell 2, the game’s trailer featured heavy metal music along with visuals of some brutal action and gruesome executions. Check out the trailer below.

Mortal Shell 2 is a standalone sequel that, according to the developer, builds on the foundations laid down by the original Mortal Shell. The title features an interconnected open world, and will give players plenty of options in terms of upgrades and other forms of progression.

The story of Mortal Shell 2 revolves around the player taking on forms of forgotten warriors in their attempts to take down the False Gods spread out throughout a ravaged world. The world itself will feature plenty of variety in the form of various biomes, each with its own line-up of enemies.

Mortal Shell 2 will be coming to PC (via Steam), PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2026. The game is also available to wishlist on your digital distribution network of choice. Registrations for the game’s beta are also open through its official website.
