Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen

Now this is a game where you would expect all sorts of anti piracy measures to be put in place because of how popular it is. Although not verified, In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen there is a strange message that occurs in the game. The rumor was that if you happened to get your hands on Pokémon games that were in anyway pirated or ripped from the cartridge, a ferryman would tell you to purchase the game or die. Harsh, but very effective.
