Motorola has dropped its patent suit against Microsoft for Xbox 360 violation

There was a bitter battle earlier between Motorola and Microsoft where heavy compensation was demanded by Motorola for the Xbox 360 infringing on some of its patents. However, according to a latest report by CVG, it seems Motorola has dropped that patent.

It’s not easy to dominate Microsoft that way especially because Xbox 360 is one of their major products and they will not take it lightly, but it looks like the entire matter was thrown out by the judge.

Judge James Robart said that the ability to take the Xbox 360 online and to play video were Frand innovations necessary to all consoles to allow them to meet consumer expectations, and therefore no monopoly was possible.

Microsoft hit back at Motorola earlier by going after their phones, like any company under fire would but it’s not clear what went down with that.
