Following a strong critical reception at launch, Fumi Games’ MOUSE: P.I. For Hire has sold approximately 730,000 copies (with half of that total consisting of console sales). Publisher PlaySide Games announced the same last week, revealing that the first-person shooter saw an estimated $21.4 million gross platform sales since launching on April 16th.

PlaySide reported $13 million in revenue (before royalties) and revealed that it had already recouped expenses related to publishing, marketing costs and milestone payments. Furthermore, it expects “meaningful near-term cash inflows” thanks to “continued strong sales performance.”

Considering it’s a new IP and saw several delays for the sake of polish, this is an excellent result for Fumi Games, which has released multiple hotfixes for the game since release. Of course, this is far from the end, as it’s also working on a paid expansion. Aside from Q4 2026, there’s no release window, though it’s a “brand new adventure” starring protagonist Jack Pepper.

As for the base game, it’s available for Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Based in an alternative 1930s city known as Mouseburg, it focuses on Pepper as he investigates the disappearance of magician (and friend), Steve Bandel. This quickly leads to a widespread conspiracy involving corruption at the highest levels. Check out our review, where we scored it a 9 out of 10, for more details.
