Ubisoft has a number of new Assassin’s Creed games currently in the works, though past leaks have claimed that in addition to new entries, the company is also working on remakes of older entries in the series. If reports are to be believed, Ubisoft is working on a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, with another unknown entry in the series being remade as well- and though the company has yet to officially reveal which titles are being remade, that remakes are in the works has been confirmed.

Speaking in an interview published on the official Ubisoft website, CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that part of the company’s plans to release Assassin’s Creed games more frequently and with greater variety in experiences is to remake multiple older games in the franchise.

“Firstly, players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we’ve created in the past and modernize them; there are worlds in some of our older Assassin’s Creed games that are still extremely rich,” Guillemot said. “Secondly, to answer your question, there will be plenty of experience variety. The goal is to have Assassin’s Creed games come out more regularly, but not for it to be the same experience every year.”

Guillemot added that Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, the next mainline instalment in the franchise after 2024’s Shadows, will also be “a very different game” that will “surprise people”.

“There are a lot of good things to come, including Assassin’s Creed Hexe, which we’ve announced, which is going to be a very different game from Assassin’s Creed Shadows. We’re going to surprise people, I think,” he said.

How long it will be before Ubisoft is ready to officially unveil these remakes remains to be seen, though there are surely plenty of older series instalments that fans will undoubtedly love remakes for, including, of course, the very first Assassin’s Creed game, which launched back in 2007.

In the meantime, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to launch on November 15 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
