MultiVersus

Each fighter in MultiVersus has their unique moves and play styles, whether you’re beating down on foes as Batman or doing…whatever Jake the Dog usually does. However, as you play more with each character, their Mastery level will increase. Mastery is essentially a progression path for all characters that unlock different rewards.

These include benefits like Perks, which can provide passive bonuses in combat. Furthermore, when a character reaches Mastery Level 6, they can use “Equip Ally Perks.” This allows for using a Perk from your teammate in matches. If both team members have the same Perk in their loadout, then they can stack its effects, gaining increased benefits. Three Perks can be equipped in a loadout along with a character’s Signature Perk.

So the question is – what are the best Perks in the game? Some are better suited for offense while others provide enhanced utility. Of course, you also have Perks which are downright essential regardless of the situation. Certain Perks are tied to specific characters so you must level their Mastery to unlock them.

For a better idea of the best Perks, take a look at the tier list by VoiD, a pro player for Counter Logic Gaming who’s experienced in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He breaks the various Perks into categories like Essential, Best Offense, Best Defense, Best Utility, and Character Specific (which encompasses all of the different Perks that are the best with certain characters). You can watch the video below for his in-depth thoughts on the rankings.

Without further ado, here are all of the best Perks, starting with the Essential tier:

  • Snowball Effect – Unlocked with Arya (Mastery Level 2) and Shaggy (Mastery Level 11). When used by itself, deal seven percent increased damage against the opponent with the highest damage. When stacked, both players deal 15 percent increased damage to the fighter with the highest damage.
  • Toon Elasticity – Unlocked with (Mastery Level 4). When used by itself, receive a 20 percent reduction in ground and wall bounce velocity. When stacked, ground and wall bounce velocity for both players is reduced by 25 percent.
  • Tasmanian Trigonometry – Unlocked with Jake the Dog (Mastery Level 13), Reindog (Mastery Level 12) and Taz (Mastery Level 7). When used by itself, receive a 15 percent increased base knockback influence. When stacked, both players have a 25 percent increased base knockback influence. Knockback influence allows for changing the angle of the direction one has been launched in. By increasing, you receive more control when knocked back, potentially preventing fatal falls.
  • Triple Jump – Unlocked with Harley Quinn (Mastery Level 4), Jake the Dog (Mastery Level 11), Steven Universe (Mastery Level 2) and Superman (Mastery Level 2). By itself, it grants an extra jump when hitting an enemy while in the air. But when stacked, the team will always have an extra jump in the air.

Next, let’s look at the best Perks for Offense:

  • Lumpy Space Punch – Unlocked with Jake the Dog (Mastery Level 2) and Shaggy (Mastery Level 2). By itself, allows melee attacks to deal five percent increased damage in-air. When stacked, the team deals 10 percent increased damage with melee strikes in the air.

On its own, it provides a 10 percent reduction to ability cooldown duration. When stacked, the team receives a 15 percent reduced ability cooldown duration.
