When it was officially announced earlier in the year, much ado was made about NBA 2K21‘s next generation version, particularly its fast loading promised to be only a measly two seconds. But the game will be coming out on current hardware as well, and it seems they are splitting the cover athlete duty.

On his official Twitter, Damin Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers announced that he would be the cover star for the current generation versions of the game. No platforms are explicitly listed, but that’s obviously the PS4 and Xbox One, though it’s unclear if the Switch is included in there but presumably it will be. There’s a fun video to accompany the announcement, which also states that preorders will go live July 2nd. Lillard says he’s been a fan of the series since the Dreamcast days.

NBA 2K21 will also be coming to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Stadia. The cover athlete for the next generation consoles as well as the special Legends Edition will be revealed at a later date.
