Need for Speed 2017 First Details: Won’t Be Always Offline, Will Feature Customization, Cop Chases, and More

It sounds like they took the criticism to heart.

We already know that a new Need for Speed game is due out this year, following the disappointing attempted reboot of the series in 2015 with the simply named Need for Speed. It looks like developers Ghost Games took most of the criticism levelled at that game to heart, because it sounds like what players hated about that game has been addressed in this one.

For instance, unlike that game, this game will not be always online- you can play single player offline without needing any internet connection. Cop chases are similarly returning to the series, and it sounds like they will be ore intense than ever before. Finally, it sounds like customization, a defining element of the games ever since Need for Speed Underground, will be retained and as emphasized as before.

All of this sounds good- now we need to see more of it in action to see if it’ll be exciting, because a racing game that isn’t exciting may as well not be worth it.
