Need for Speed Heat

Electronic Arts hasn’t been massively over-hyping Need for Speed Heat, its next big title in the once-coveted racing franchise. Thankfully, we are getting some new gameplay footage before release. A new video from IGN showcases 13 minutes of high speed night races as the player tries to evade the cops and bank their winnings. Check it out below.

Taking place in Palm City, Need for Speed Payback is a tale of two race types – day races and night races. While the daytime has races that are sanctioned and can provide decent pay-outs, the nighttime races are illegal. They’re needed to earn rep and more rep is earned as you escape the police.

Of course, you have to reach the safe-house before the cops arrest you to properly cash in on that rep, which is an intriguing mechanic. Upgrades no longer being confined to Speedcards and the lack of lootboxes should also make this more appealing than Need for Speed Payback. Need for Speed Heat is out on November 8th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
