Microsoft’s third consecutive annual Xbox Developer_Direct presentation is around the corner, and unsurprisingly, it’s generating plenty of buzz. Microsoft has confirmed that it will be showcasing South of Midnight, DOOM: The Dark Ages, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and that that trio will be joined by “another studio’s brand new game” in “a surprise location”.
A report published by Windows Central may have potentially shed some light on that mystery fourth title’s identity. Microsoft will allegedly unveil a new entry in a “legendary” Japanese franchise at the Developer_Direct. Precise details aren’t available, but apparently, the IP in question has “decades of history”, and the new announcement will “make a lot of fans happy”.
Take from that what you will. Persona? Resident Evil? Perhaps something dormant like Ninja Gaiden? One can hope. With Sega filing trademarks for Ecco the Dolphin last month in Japan (as discovered by Gematsu), it could see a resurgence.
The Xbox Developer_Direct showcase is set for January 23 at 10 AM Pacific / 1 PM Eastern, so we’ll know more soon. Stay tuned for all the updates.
