New gameplay details for Portal 2

Valve have shown off some new Portal 2 gameplay at PAX East in Boston, USA, and have announced a new character, Cave Johnson.

Johnson, who’s voiced by JK Simmons, is the founder of Aperture Science. Like Glados he will guide you through the game.

As well as unveiling Johnson, Valve also revealed plans to fill in plot details between the first and second Portal games. Erik Wolpaw stated that “we’re actually going to release something that we’re not talking about yet that will give a little bit of the story of the interim time. We’re doing that before release.”

The game will feature a new song by a band called The National. Portal 2 writer Chet Faliszek explained that “the inclusion of the original song, Still Alive, in the first Portal game was part of what made the game special. For Portal 2, we wanted to extend the use of music. When Bug Music mentioned to us that The National might be interested, we jumped at the opportunity to work with them.”

The game is set for a European launch on April 21st. Put it in your calenders people.
