New Need for Speed Game Won’t Have A Subtitle

It's not Need for Speed Underground 3, it's just Need for Speed.

Need for Speed

Need for Speed games have had cool subtitles that go in with their theme for the longest time, now- there was Hot Pursuit for the games which involved high octane police chases, there was Most Wanted for that as well, albeit with a more structured progression, and there was Underground representing the tuner import street racing culture. Each subtitle eventually became its own sub franchise, and each has had its own following over the years.

None of them have had as many fans as Need for Speed Underground, and when EA began teasing a new Need for Speed game this year, a lot of us were hoping that it would be Underground 3. However, the game was announced with no subtitle, and there is a reason for that- this is not Need for Speed Underground 3 (though it takes heavy inspirations from Underground). It’s not Most Wanted, Hot Pursuit, or Rivals- it’s an all new fresh start for the franchise, a reboot, and Ghost Games will try to incorporate all the elements that make Need for Speed, Need for Speed, with this game. It’s just called Need for Speed.

We’ll learn more about the game, which is due out later this year on Xbox One, PS4, and PC, at E3 this year. Stay tuned.
