Pokemon X and Y will be the greatest games in the series ever. There can be no question about it, particularly as we are learning more and more about them.

Take the newest news we got, for instance. It revealed ‘Mega Evolutions,’ Digimon inspired fourth stage evolutions for certain Pokemon that will allow them to evolve in uber powered ‘Mega’ Pokemon for the duration of a battle. Special conditions need to be met to evolve to the Mega stage, including the Pokemon holding its own unique ‘Mega’ stone that will help it to evolve.

Not every Pokemon can evolve to a Mega stage; only some of them can. As an incentive to buy the games early, The Pokemon Company announced that it will make available for an extremely limited time a Torchic holding a stone to make Blaziken evolve into Mega Blaziken exclusively over Wifi as free DLC following the game’s release.

In addition to all the evolution madness, we also got to learn about ‘Super Training,’ which is essentially a way to train your Pokemon’s EVs (stat points that let you determine the growth of your Pokemon) for the first time in the series via minigames and other activities outside of battle.

The Pokemon Company also revealed new Pokemon and gym leaders.

Seriously, this was a massive information blow out that just makes the wait for the upcoming games that much harder.

Pokemon X and Y release exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS on October 12, 2013 worldwide. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage.
