Valve stands as something of an anomaly in the video game world- a company that is entirely privately held and funded, it is one that does not have to answer to corporate concerns, and is free to do whatever it wants to. As such, everyone in Valve are actually free to peruse their passions, their ambitions- for them, their careers are passions projects.

And now, a new study has found out that that seems to manifest itself tangibly. You see, Valve seems to be the most desirable employer to work with in the video games industry.

Amusingly enough, Valve is ranked higher than even working for ‘my own company.’ Yep, more people would work for Valve than be the boss themselves. That’s some employee satisfaction right there.

Valve is currently at work supporting the hell out of DOTA 2, working on SteamOS, modernizing the Steam client, and trying to ensure something comes out of the Steam machines initiative. We’ll keep you posted.
