Epic Games boss Tim Sweeney has made some bold claims, saying that next generation home consoles will be “substantial leaps” over their current generation counterparts, saying that Epic is very enthusiastic about the next gen right now.

“We’re more enthusiastic now than ever about the future of high-end platforms,” Sweeney said while speaking with Edge. “What we’re doing on high-end PCs is going to be representative of the future consumer gaming experience and it’s going to be awesome.”

“It’s going to be a substantial leap over the current generation,” he claimed.

Well, Sony will be announcing the PS4 on February 20th (most probably), so we shall get a hint of just how massive a leap it will be over the PS3. We’re guessing it shall be pretty massive.

EA recently claimed that next gen consoles may not necessarily support backwards compatibility.
