Level-5’s Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom has received some new gameplay footage showcasing the game’s new Skirmish mode. This mode placed a real-time strategy bent to the proceedings as characters run around with different units to engage groups of enemies.

The strategy element incorporates a colour triangle of sorts where red units beat green units, green units beat blue and blue units beat ready. Commanders and fortifications are also involved. It looks intriguing though we have to wonder how it feeds into the game’s main story and kingdom building aspect.

Some of the questing is also showcased as our heroes take on a quest to rescue the daughter of a Sky Pirates leader from some wyverns. Exploration looks fairly typical as you move between dungeons and and towns, engaging in random monster battles along the way.

Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is scheduled to release on March 23rd 2018 for PS4 and PC.
