With as many delays as its had, Level-5’s Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom has quite a lot to live up to. The developer released a new trailer which goes over various aspects of the game including the combat, Kingdom Mode and Skirmish Mode. Check it out below.

Combat is a lot more action RPG-esque though there’s a pool of skills to utilize and customize. Kingdom Mode, meanwhile, sees our protagonist Evan rebuilding his kingdom, establishing buildings and recruiting several citizens to his cause. Being a part of the Cat tribe, you really have to wonder why there are anthropomorphic cats while Evan is a human with cat ears and a tail. Hmm.

Skirmish Mode sees you building an army and eventually fighting the Kingmakers in battle. This mode has more of a real-time strategy bent though micromanagement appears to be kept to a minimum. We’ll see for ourselves how all of this plays when Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom launches on March 23rd for PS4 and PC.
